You’ve decided to upgrade your kitchen or bathroom to include gorgeous granite quartz countertops. It’s a significant investment, so you don’t want to make a mistake. How do you begin?
Here are a few tips on how to shop for the right quartz countertop for your home.
Let your existing decor guide you—or at least serve as a solid starting point. If you’re working on a kitchen remodel, for example, consider your cabinet style, paint color, and flooring. Do you have a back splash to coordinate too? Really the paint color can always change, so don’t put too much stake in that—but the cabinets and flooring are here to stay so probably they are the two most important color schemes you want to work with.
It’s a good idea to take your time during this stage to get further ideas of what gets your heart racing so that when you do go visit the showrooms, you have already narrowed down your options and won’t feel overwhelmed. Visit model homes or check out magazines and sites such as www.houzz.com for ideas.
Some selections cannot be made online. You need to visit the local showrooms to see for yourself what’s available. If the granite supplier is only able to show you a small sample of granite on which to base your decision, try someplace else. A sign that the supplier knows what they’re doing is they will have large slabs on display for you to see.
Even if you do happen to lug in a cabinet door and a sample of your flooring—who cares? Have fun with this process and know that once you’ve done your homework, the selection you make will be one you’ll enjoy for years. You might as well take your time and be sure.
